Grey Matters Grey Matters Productions

Older people making radio programmes which are listened to by older people

Who are we ?

Grey Matters Productions Community Interest Company was set up by Brighton & Hove Council, Brighton & Hove Older People’s Council,
Brighton & Hove Pensioners’ Forum and the local branch of Age Concern (now Age UK).

It is non profit making.

It makes programmes of interest to older people in the community which are broadcast on Brighton’s Community Radio Station,
“RadioReverb”, which can be heard on 97.2 VHF/FM in Brighton and Hove,
and also on DAB+ Digital Radio in Brighton and Hove only. It can also be heard on the Internet at www.radioreverb.com
The programmes are also broadcast on Brighton's Hospital Radio Station, "Coastway Radio".
Technical equipment was funded by a grant from the Lottery Fund “Awards for All”

What are we doing?

Our programme, “At home this morning”, lasts an hour. Each edition is broadcast on Radio Reverb on Tuesday morning at 11am,
on Thursday morning at 9am and on Sunday morning at 8am for a period of two weeks, after which it is replaced by a new edition.

On Coastway Radio it is broadcast on Friday at 12pm with a repeat on Tuesday at 11am.

The programme is in magazine format, containing interviews, features, music and memories.

We need more members

Our existing team is fairly small, and we need more members!
We need older people who would like to act as interviewers and presenters.
We also need people who are willing to learn to operate the equipment, putting programmes together and editing inserts.
We need people with ideas, with their ears to the ground, seeking out stories to cover. We will be setting up training courses.
Joining us can bring a whole new meaning to life - creating programmes, being part of a team, serving local older people.
It will open up a whole new area of interest !!
